1. Reach out to your exchange office at your home institution:
   • Confirm with your home institution that there is an active student exchange agreement with The New School. This agreement is crucial to be nominated as an inbound exchange student. These are our current exchange partners:

2. Complete home institution nomination process for exchange:
   • Contact your home exchange coordinator for detailed information about the nomination procedure, supporting documents and specific requirements. Exchange students must be nominated and meet all New School requirements to be considered for admission to the exchange program. They will review your application and, if approved, will nominate you to The New School.
3. Submit an application only if you received an official nomination from your home institution
   • Once nominated, students will receive a detailed email of Next Steps, application links and requirements from The New School. Requirements may vary by program. Nominations from your home institution do not guarantee placement in the program. All applications are reviewed by appropriate program managers. Exchange applications must be submitted by the following deadlines:

Fall Semester Deadlines (August through December):

• Nomination Deadlines for Exchange Partner Institutions: March 15
• Application Deadline for Exchange Students: April 1

Spring Semester Deadlines (January through May):

• Nomination Deadlines for Exchange Partner Institutions: September 15
• Application Deadline for Exchange Students: October 1

4. Admission into The New School:

• Once the application review is finalized, students who are admitted will be notified via email. They will receive an official Admission Letter from the Admissions team, followed by a Welcome Letter from The Education Abroad Office outlining the next steps.  

  If you are enrolled at a University that is not an active exchange partner with The New School you will need to apply as a Visiting Student.
