The musical world is broader and more interconnected than ever, and today’s string players are expected to be fluent in skills that extend beyond the traditional classical training model. In this interactive workshop, students will explore improvisation, playing by ear, fingerboard fluency, and the musical aesthetics of blues, folk, jazz, and other contemporary genres through hands-on playing and group exercises. Participants will leave with practical tools for developing their ears, improvising with greater confidence, and approaching their instrument with increased creativity and versatility, building a foundation in the skills increasingly expected of today’s professional string players.
