• Economics Masters & PhD Programs Virtual Information Session

Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PMEastern Standard Time UTC -05:00

Join faculty from the Economics department as they discuss the distinctions of the masters and PhD offerings:

      - MA, MS, and PhD in Economics
      - MA in Global Political Economy & Finance

The MA in Economics is a 30-credit program that provides depth of knowledge and analytical skills in the field of economics along with a wide range of elective choices. Each candidate shapes an individual concentration, such as economics and finance, classical political economy, interdisciplinary political economy, urban economics, or development economics.

The MS in Economics is a 45-credit degree designed for students who wish to study economics in more depth than the MA allows, particularly to investigate advanced economic theory and develop research skills in economic modeling and econometrics.

The PhD in Economics is designed for students who have completed the Economics MA at The New School for Social Research or a comparable master's degree from another university. Core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics are supplemented by courses in Marxian, post-Keynesian, and neo-Ricardian theory.

You'll learn about the curricula, application requirements, and funding opportunities for the MA, MS, and PhD.

Please note that our Economics programs are STEM designated for international applicants.
